OUR STORY

Chivas Beagle

My name is Chivas Beagle. This whole Bite This / Natural Dog Treat business began because of me. I’m a very lucky and very spoiled little dog now but it wasn’t always that way. As a puppy, I lived in a home where nobody even looked at me. Then I went to live in a home where I was the only dog and I was loved by some and the others were young boys who thought it was funny to throw me in a pile of snow and watch me be nervous and scared. My owner passed away while we were sleeping and I barked and howled but nobody came. Now I live with Regina and Robert and they understand that I need constant love.

Robert lets me sit on him while he watches TV or reads. He doesn’t like when I get down and he sees all the hair I’ve left behind but he knows that I can’t help it so he just brushes it off and gives me a Brooklyn attitude.

Regina is actually my savior. She didn’t have a job when my owner passed away and I became homeless. She spent all of her time with me and made sure I ate good dog food. She started making me special treats that were all natural and healthy. That’s where it all began. The treats were so good, I couldn’t get enough. Regina started giving them to her family and friends who had dogs in Brooklyn. Then they started giving them to their family and friends. Regina is pretty smart so she packaged them and put them on Facebook so that people who weren’t from Brooklyn could feed natural healthy dog treats to their dogs too.

One of Regina’s friends, Ann Marie, asked her if she could make jerky with beef and chicken for her dogs who were fancy poodles on a raw, wheat free and dairy free diet. Regina even mails chicken out to a dog named Syko in Maui. Her friend Joe said Syko loves the chicken and doesn’t eat any other treats now. Everything was great at the house for a while. The smell of sweet potatoes, carrots, pumpkin and peanut butter treats baking and chicken dehydrating all the time … It was like living in Heaven.

Honey & Blackie

Then the other dogs came – and they stayed – and they got much bigger than me – and I wasn’t so happy about that. They were real cute when they were little. This picture is Honey and Blackie when they first got here. They belong to Regina and Robert’s daughter, Jessica. She lives upstairs from us. I love Jessica. She really knows how to treat a dog – brings me balls to play with all the time. The only problem is that she’s almost always with her dogs, Honey & Blackie. I didn’t like them when they were little because there were two of them and they always wanted to play. I never played with other dogs before so they overwhelmed me. But then they grew up and they got really big and they ate a lot more treats than I did. And they play rough all the time with each other. And now, they’re so much bigger than me!!! I can’t play with them – I’m afraid of them!!! Good thing Regina understands me…

We have Lucy & Rocco living in the house too. I don’t play with them but I don’t mind them being around. I let them hang out on my porch when it’s nice out and I even let them inside my house sometimes. They’re smaller than me and they don’t eat too many treats. They only like chicken and beef now (they’re a little spoiled, too but I’ll never say anything). Look how cute they are – I don’t blame Tara & Mike for spoiling them. Besides, they spoil me, too!

Lucy & Rocco

Regina makes all the treats right here in our Brooklyn kitchen with food from the refrigerator. She uses whole wheat flour, olive oil, peanut butter, oatmeal, flax seeds, organic milk, fresh carrots, real sweet potatoes, solid pieces of top round beef and 100% white meat chicken – everything is fresh – nothing frozen – nothing from a box – no preservatives – no fillers – nothing artificial. If you have any questions for Regina, please contact us. Regina loves dogs and will help you with special requests if possible. She takes care of one dog with peanut allergies and another dog with dental problems and hardly any teeth. I’m sure she can help your dog too.

OUR STORY – PART 2

Fast forward to Gulfport, Florida.

I really didn’t know what was going on but there were a lot of people in and out of our big house in Brooklyn and some of them took all of our furniture!  Then one day, Regina, Robert and Jessica took me outside early in the morning and all the neighbors came out and they were all hugging each other and crying. I was so confused.  They put me in the car and there was a brand new car seat in there for me. We drove away from the house and left Jessica there.  Regina was really upset, and I didn’t know what to do so I just kept quiet. Two days later we moved into our new house in Gulfport.  I was so happy to see our bed and couch!  And the best part was that there were no other dogs in this house, so I got to eat all the treats myself!!  This was perfect.  I couldn’t wait to see the backyard so I could see where I was gonna play.  When Regina opened the door to the back, the first thing I saw was a big pool.  Oh No!! I hate to get wet – I don’t even like to go out in the rain – Regina knows this – why is she doing this to me? Then I saw all these little animals running around.  Regina called them geckos and told me not to be afraid of them.  I didn’t like them, and I really was hoping they didn’t eat dog treats because there were so many of them..…  I was very happy to see that these little geckos stayed outside and didn’t get any treats.  I thought I was back in Heaven – I was the only dog in the house with all these treats to myself!

At first Regina was too busy to pay attention to me.  Robert was really sick and couldn’t do very much so I sat with him and watched a lot of TV. When the family came to visit, they stayed for days instead of hours.  That would have been OK except for the time that little Lucy climbed up my bed stairs and got right on top of me!  She was really small, so it didn’t hurt but that was MY bed!

Regina had to hire someone to take care of the pool.  She found a really nice lady named Tina.  She comes over every Wednesday and has coffee after taking care of the pool.  One day she brought her dog with her.  I was not happy.

Beauregard

Beauregard is a golden retriever and he’s a lot bigger than me.  He loves treats as much as I do only he eats them a lot faster than me.  I thought this would be a problem but actually Beauregard likes to swim in the pool so I don’t have to spend much time with him, and Regina will only let him in the house if he’s dry.  After Robert got better, Tina and Beauregard came and stayed here with me while Regina and Robert went to spend Christmas up north.  We got along pretty well.  Tina was really good at sharing the treat jar between us.

Regina and Robert have a few friends who moved down here to Gulfport right after us.  Susie is a nurse and she lived with us to help out while Robert was sick.  She brought her cat, Mendel with her.  Mendel was OK – he liked to sit on my chair but that’s OK – he didn’t eat any treats and Susie gives me so many treats – all I have to do is look at her and she gets up and goes to the treat jar.  When Robert got better, Susie bought her own house and moved out, but she lives really close and comes over to play with me all the time.  She still gives me treats every time I look at her.

Ozzy

Then Bob and Margaret moved nearby with their dog, Ozzy.  Ozzy is a small dog with a big treat appetite.  We only see them once in a while and they take a lot of bags of treats home with them when they leave.  That’s OK – Regina makes enough for me and I’m the only dog in the house as long as it isn’t Wednesday.

Robert’s cousin, Michael, lives about 10 minutes from us in St. Pete Beach.  He spends a lot of time in Gulfport and comes over a lot.  He doesn’t have any dogs or cats, but he never remembers my name.  Chivas Beagle is so easy to remember but he calls me Crown Royal.  Everybody laughs but I don’t get it.  Michael is really nice to me.  When nobody’s home, he shares his ice cream with me, I don’t think anybody is supposed to know so let’s keep that a secret…..

Honey, Blackie, & Pita

So here we are in Gulfport and we love it here.  Robert is doing really well now, and Regina is all settled in with her treat business now too.  She always mails boxes of treats out to the customers she had while we lived in Brooklyn but now she started selling treats at events in and around the Gulfport area so that other dogs can eat good healthy treats also.  There are so many dogs here in Gulfport, but I don’t leave the house – I’m afraid of other dogs – and somebody has to guard the treats!  I do miss my friend, Max, and sometimes I miss Honey, Blackie and Pita the cat, but I couldn’t have picked a better place to live.
